Don't know much about it to be honest but have you looked into the fodder system of sprouting your feed before giving it to your chickens? Supposedly it vastly increases what your chickens get out of the feed.

excellent video, we are hard at it keeping the chicken feed costs down at the moment, thanks for the tips.

Good information. Thanks.

I love this video. I had also watched D&S' chicken feed making video. I think between the two of your channels, and all the comments, I need for no other info :) Thanks for sharing great information!

good info thanks

Oh yeah speaking of sprouting, why wouldn't you want the seeds to sprout? Sprouted seeds are good for the animals. Is it because you don't want those seeds growing on your property? I'm just not sure why that was an issue.

Great information! I'm on the treadmill right now, so I'm going to come back and watch it later when I can actually write down the gradients you used, and I'm also going to watch the video from Doug and Stacy. One thing we have done that helps reduce our cost to feed is we sprout sunflower seeds. We started doing it for our pigs, but now all of our animals get it the goats chickens and horses too! Here's the link to how we do it: https://youtu.be/Vfir4bUmGwA

We really need to do more of this. And what we really need to do is grow a lot of our own. That would be awesome. Thanks for another great video - Mike

You didn't say the type of chicken your raising, meat chickens would be feed wheat cracked, handful minerals and vitamins and they will beautiful white fat. If you add oil , meat chickens will taste like your oil, I would not let them add oil to my mix ...ever.

Thanks for the update. Might have to look at mixing me up a batch God bless buddy

Great video. I will refer back to this when I get chickens.

I use a similar mix but I ferment mine, when grains are fermented the nutrition value is increased along with the probiotics factor improving digestion and overall health

Excellent! we have been wanting to go towards this instead depending on the box stores t meet our needs. We need to thin down our heard before we do anything though. Thanks for sharing!

Great video, alway look forward to what's next. I've been considering possibly doing this at some point. 👍🏼

Do you also supplement your chickens with fresh greens and vegetables?
-

Is this a complete enough feed for chickens. I plan on mixing some of my own also but will in addition to the whole grains I will put in Poultry Nutri-Balancer, kelp, & alfalfa. http://www.newcountryorganics.com/shop/certified-organic-soy-free-poultry-feeds/specialty-layer-feed/certified-organic-soy-free-poultry-layer-feed-50-pounds-whole-grain.html Like at new country organics. If you look at the site they also have great garden products. Unsure what state you live in but flat bed shipping I think is OK.
