STORYLINE: Vietnamese Americans in Southern California are among those across the nation, and the world, who mark 30 years since they, their families and their homeland were changed forever. It was April 30, 1975, when the Vietnam War ended with the fall of Saigon, the US-backed South Vietnamese capital, to communist forces. Thousands had already fled the war-ravaged south and more than 700-thousand Vietnamese would become refugees in the United States.
