Pits would be the best add for 1 or two dogs in a pack coming under attack, they literally just trot up into the fight and grab whatever's ear//neck immediately letting the less brave barker dogs an opening to bite without getting bit back. Too bad Canadia is located upon a glacier.

Out of shape is true because these dogs runs 10-20 km just for jun each day, walks 40-50 km behind the live stock for days.
But small is wrong. Because Anatolian (Turkish Sheep dogs) shepherd is not just one breed. There are more than 8 of those. Most known ones; "Kangal", "Malakli" (Aksaray Malakli) and "Akbash". However, at the end of the day; all these Turkish shepherds comes from same single Turkish shepherd breed, those brought to Anatolian by the Turks during Turkic expansion.
- Malakli is the largest one of them, becomes 90 to 110 Kilos, 215 cm tall when sending on back legs. Mostly used for land protection or protects live stock that do not travel in open land for long distances, because their size is too big for long distance herding.
- Akbash are little bit smaller that Kangal but some of them may get so giant just like the Malakli. They are pure white. Incredibly energetic dogs, they will make a security circle around the livestock and keep running, wrestling all they long, non stop. + They are incredibly good hunters. In the open land they will hunt for themselves while protecting the stock, find rabbits, fox etc. what ever they can find to eat.
- Kangals are smaller than most people think but they are smaller compare to Turkish Shepherd dogs?!? Not compere to other dogs and/or mastiffs. Smallest ones still around 45-50 Kilos but still gonna be bigger than largest Rottweilers.
Kangals are the most rare ones to find. Because they mostly mixed with Malakli. Because people things bigger dogs are better sheep dogs. But they are not. Kangal is famous because they are incredibly smart, independent, very very dominant and fearless. This is common between all Turkish sheep dogs but what makes Kangal different tan others is they are much more faster and agile. + They are much better at herding the live stock in open lands. Which means; You make 4-5 god Kangal packs, let them with the goats, sheep, they take the live stock to herd and bring all of them back them selves, you do not even have to go with them. They perfectly know what to do, they will know every single member/number of the livestock, new born babies, they will keep the herding/depasture speed of the live stock in balance, will not let any member behind and more.
The ones in the video have quite large amount of Kangal mix in them. Mix means, they mixed with other Turkish sheep dogs like Malakli etc. If the dog is not % 100 Kangal, Malakli or Akbas etc. we do also call them as "Turkish Sheep Dog" like a general name.
+ In the West, (USA, EU etc) people do not feed them in right way. They need lots of raw meat, Chicken, offal, fish, eggs, legumes etc. high protein food and lots of exercise. like 10-15 km run a day, pulling some weight, wrestling with the pack members. As long as they get enough exercise; They are never gonna gain fat, they are gonna keep getting bigger and so much muscle.,, )IYI( -

What happens when the dog needs to scratch? Those spiked collars don't really look conducive to allowing a paw to head scratch.

just get Romanian Raven sheep dog I guarantee that if you have 6-7 of them to one herd of sheep you will have almost no losses to the sheep

I'd personally use pitbulls, they pack a big punch in a smaller frame, plus if you can find a good breeder you may find real well focused pups. the breed in general is easy to train.

american bulldogs will take care of those wolfs... but the might eat your sheep too..

As an Irish wolf hound breeder from Manitoba and a Caucasian ovcharka owner. I would highly recommend Irish wolf hounds and Caucasians if you are looking to add more dogs and diversity to your current pack. Also make your ratio of females higher so this way the wolf packs won't lure your dogs out to the woods with their females in heat

What about using some llamas in the herd mix? I see llamas and donkeys in herds around our area to help ward off coyotes, as well as the large dogs.

They are very healthy and need big spaces to roam
They eat few less than 400 grams of food a day for a male and 500 for a female because it bigger in size -
I have a Great Pyrenees they are the best!
