We're excited to share the first in what we hope will be a series of videos from Living Forest Farm. This one shows our newly adopted Indian Runner ducks having their very first swim ever. The duck pond we installed for them is an old cast iron bathtub sunk into the ground. As for keeping the pond clean, some people use filters, but they tend to get jammed up really quickly! The safest bet for a small duck pond is simply to empty it once a week. To lessen the work, we connected a drain pipe to the sunken bathtub that allows us to water the plants on the terraces below. We just unplug the bathtub and voilà - "fertilized" duck water irrigates the ornamentals & fruit trees. We then refill the pond with rainwater from our gigantic (40 000 Litre) reservoir. So the water is being captured and cycled a few times and is never wasted!
