Some Q&A with Giuseppe D' Aleo, Of Milan Farms. and a look at the progress of this project. This video is an update to one I recorded about 11 months ago. Milan Farms is a brave project, to grow Kesar mangoes in the Dominican Republic for export to EU and the USA. 2016 update, trees obviously put out more fruit this year, being one year older, I was able to get my hand on a couple bags :) they were excellent.
The drought is over, actually we have been getting too much rain in the "dry season" the Kesar plantation is in a unique location that does not get much rainfall directly but just a few miles away the rain falls on the mountains, keeping the streams, filled. other areas that get too much rainfall at the wrong time, has affected the fruit quality, anthracnose, ( black spots ) and watered down taste, and some internal breakdown , but the Kesars were all good. -
IT WILL NOT HAVE A TASTE LIKE KESAR MANGOES IN INDIA.

Well Done!!

hi, How many meters apart are these trees from each other, row width and length?
-
Thanks sir

what is distance between mango trees?

I can't imagine what these men are eating to maintain bellies of that size. However, excellent orchard and great film.

so it is sustainable only because he is paying and energy cost to pump water which would be added to the cost of the mangoes, the price he would have to charge to make a profit, and yet he wants to add many more trees.
why not just grow food where the water rains normally?
not sure if he gets any government subsidies, but my guess is that those will be expensive mangoes all depending on how much his water bill is. -
so if they are in a drought, does that mean that they are stealing the water from the rest of the population so they can make mangoes?
reminds me of california almond growers.
