Rusby PRS/MCPS) Young Jamie Clarke was in Cannon Hall Park, Messing about with a laugh and a lark, When all down the valley the rain forced the flood, Young Jamie was a gonner neck deep in the mud, But here’s Bill, Bill with a rescuing plan, And it’s Bill, Bill and he saved the young man. Chorus Big Brave Bill, from Barnsley he came, Big Brave Bill, from the mine, Big Brave Big, we’ll remember his name, The hero who drinks Yorkshire Tea all the time. Thomas B Grindle worked in Carlton Main, Proud as can be of his part in the chain, But oh woe betide on this terrible day, When a prop in the shaft underground it gave way, But here’s Bill, Bill with his hero strength eyes, And he’s burned deep and now Tom sees blue skies. Chorus Old Mrs Dobbins from down the Dearneside, Went to Mallorca to take the seaside, Was served a cup of warm water, tea bag on the side, UHT milk, oh she broke down and cried, But here’s Bill, Bill he’s with kettle and proud, We love Bill, Bill came the cheers from the crowd. Chorus x 2 The hero who thinks Yorkshire, The hero who loves Yorkshire, The hero who drinks Yorkshire Tea all the time. In light of Orgreave..? "Tom and his mates stood on the picket line,
Things turning uglier all of the time.
Long sticks and short shields and snatch squads and dogs.
The miners stand firm, but they don't like the odds.
But here's Bill - Bill like a battering ram.
Here comes Bill - Thatcher, she upped stumps and ran.
Big Brave Bill - from Barnsley he came.
Big Brave Bill - from the mine.
Big Brave Bill - we'll remember his name.
And we'll have our public enquiry in time!" -
Wonderful! Thanks for a great concert on Sunday in Belfast

Lovely voice and tune. I'm a lone voice im sure, but...Kate, what's happening to you these days?! Is this really on the new album?? Why? I used to love all your work, but recently...glad for you that others like, but unfortunately this type of development/music path of yours is not for me. I never thought I'd ever have to say that of your work :-(

Is there not a reference to superman in 'Planets'. Does Kate have a secret super power complex. Also this might help me explain about Yorkshire and the central role of tea in England and Yorkshire to some foreign friends of mine who think tea is served flavoured with spices and served in a glass with no milk!

I found this song through Spotify's Release Radar, they must know I like well-written children's music!

Will this song be on her new album?

I love this ode to the working class heros drinking Yorkshire tea :) real heroes . My uncle had his leg badly hurt in a mining accident in the Rhondda and the simplicity of little pleasures bellies the courage and spirit of these brave people . True grit and lovely song . Thank you .
