The Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency has extended Kenya a 5.34 billion shillings grant to facilitate rice farming. Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe says the deal also involves provision of 72 tractors to rice growing irrigation schemes with 52 of them already delivered to cooperative societies. As Nicholus Nduati reports, Japan will drive a program to improve rice varieties in Kenya.
