Federal regulations have grown & water shortage has become a problem. The Saudi are buying large parcels of farm land in California & Arizona where they grow alfalfa in the US & ship it back to Saudi where the Saudi have depleted water.

This is bullcrap. The Great Plains alone could practically feed the world, and California by itself produces tons of crops. Other than that, dozens of US states produce copious amounts of food and cash crops. Not to mention the livestock.

The US is a net exporter of food. Most of our farms rely on highly mechanized means of production, such as using tractors and harvesters to farm wheat and corn. Cheap Mexican labor only factors into a handful of crops and farms.

Farmers in all of the NAFTA nations are left behind. Mexican farmers that practiced Subsistence agriculture, in the poorest regions especially like my parents/grandparents would grow for the family and sold the leftovers for some money. Not the best way to live but you lived, With NAFTA those guys can sell for significantly lower prices is no longer sustainable so the unskilled farmers immigrate to the US and they work for cheap prices. Point is NAFTA screwed the US and Mexico farmers.

So US had Fallen behind in Infrastructure (Water,Electricity,Roads and Bridges,etc) and Farming...Politicians it's all your fault...Well you know what doesn't help idiots like Rush Limbaugh saying it's a conspiracy when Lesbians buy a farm and Calls it them trying to end Rural America...Hahaha y ou guys needed nobody to end your way and make your population a declining one.

The US has around 320 million citizens, more than 42 million of those have insecure access to food? that's pretty bad imo.. Especially for a Country that calls itself the most developed nation in the world

Here in Ohio, this is not a problem, by any means.. We farm what the government pays us to farm. The rest goes to local markets, still leaving many acres of land untouched..
