Interview with Kailash Murthy on Natural Farming (2011)
Kailash Murthy, like all other farmers used fertilizers and pesticides as specified by the agricultural experts. He proudly displayed a record yield in his neighborhood. But to his dismay, he observed that the yield grew less and less each year. A bank employee by profession and farmer by conviction observed that intensive artificial inputs like fertilizers and chemicals decreased the soil fertility, increased soil erosion and destroyed the food chain of predator and prey population. He stumbled upon the book, One Straw Revolution, written by a Japanese farmer Masanobu Fukuoka a pioneer in natural farming. The book inspired him to further read the Shastras. Reading the Shastras reveled that India was not new to natural farming. Many Rishes grew their entire food around the ashram with out ploughing. They believed food grown without ploughing is healthier. So he gave the established farming a break and left the Land to itself, no tilling, no chemical fertilizer, and no use of pesticides, in short, nothing accept scattering of seed at random. Surprisingly within two years the transformation was remarkable. The natural balance of soil was restored and the 6.5 acres of land transformed itself into a mini forest, a self sustaining eco system. He was kind enough to talk to us and share with us his experience and wisdom to help more people switch to Natural Farming. Enjoy his wonderful insights in this short 22 minute interview. Super attitude towards nature. God bless you Sir.

Hi Anna, I am from your native place. Our village farmers could have taken some inputs from u. At least I am gonna take in future.
-
really love this way of farming for sure
-
this is a wonderful endeavor. I would like to suggest Mr. Murthy add to his natural farm, principles of vaastu design. I have students in Bangalore who can assist. When I speak of Vaastu I mean the true Shastri Vaastu not the contemorary superstition.

please help me to get his contact

Wow, not even wasting energy growing annuals that require cooking (more energy to kill the food). Truly a natural farm. Thank you for the video!

Kingdom of Heaven: "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" | Biblical promises as per Abrahamic Covenants "You Don't Need Fertilisers"
The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever (Psalms 22:26)
When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together (Isaiah 41:17)
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied (Psalms 37:11,17)
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings. And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation; And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease (Psalms 107:35)
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts (Malachi 3:11)
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep; And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land (Isaiah 7:21)
Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth (Isaiah 12:3)
The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God (Isaiah 35:1)
For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things (Zechariah 8:12)
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm (Joel 2:25)
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed (Joel 2:25) -

If you want you can raise chickens only in plantation to balance food chain
-
Mr Murthy, do you raise chickens in your plantation?
-
great video and informative, Fukuoka has also inspired me to move towards more natural farming method. I agree with what he says about trial and error, and farming through observation is basically fool proof as long as your patient enough
-
Hi Pathy K here's the contacts of Mr Kailash mailto:kailashnatufarm@gmail.com
-
HI there, great video and many thanks to sharing. I am planning to get about 5-6 acres of land in Malaysia and start natural farming. Do you have the contact of Mr Kailash or others who can be my guide.
-
Yeah. He makes more money by not having to spend it on fertilizer and pesticide and the produce is just as good. In the long run, it is better because the soil quality is becoming better. Also because he does not have to DO any labor, that's another cost that's saved
-
So does he get more money or less than what he used to ? Because most farmers want money as they already make very less of it
