Within the broad concept of sustainable agriculture "Integrated Farming Systems" hold special position as in this system nothing is wasted, the byproduct of one system becomes the input for other. It refers to agricultural systems that integrate livestock and crop production. Moreover, the system help poor small farmers, who have very small land holding for crop production and a few heads of livestock to diversify farm production, increase cash income, improve quality and quantity of food produced and exploitation of unutilized resources. The majority of the farmers are following Cereal-Cereal (Rice-wheat) cropping system continuously in a same piece of land for years resulted in declining in crop response due to decline in organic carbon in soil. The deficiency of nutrients like N,P, S, Zn and Fe will be observed in crops which directly affect on yield and quality. Under this situation, the integrated farming systems is promise which includes crop-livestock and these system is helpful for soil sustainability by addition of organic carbon in soil through farmyard manure, urine, vermi-compost etc. Before raising of crop, soils should be monitored for nutrient status and if observes deficiency of particular nutrient in a soil then it should be required to apply in a soil to obtain maximum crop production. Worldwide, many countries are adopting the integrated farming system for a long time but now it is requires to be changed the old traditional practices and develop a suitable new modified model considering the present and future climatic conditions, soil conditions, looking to the food habit of people, estimate the future requirements of food for considering the ever increasing human as well as animal population. In this new model, the improved agricultural technologies like integrated nutrient management, site specific nutrient management, conservation technology, use of biochar, bio-fertilizers, crop rotation, zero tillage, etc. are requires to be incorporated. It should be tested for 2-3 years in a larger area (1.0 hectare land) and make recommendation to the farming communities. It should be popularized by demonstrating to the farmers. This new IFS model will be definitely solves the problems of food security and global warming mitigation .
