Welcome to Lehigh Acres, Florida. Half-built homes litter the seemingly endless grid of half acre plots in a town built entirely on speculation. Dreams were built on the promises of Lehigh Acres, where the social benefits of a wholesome American town were second only to the vast economic potential of affordable land ownership. It was about fulfilling the American dream on dirt plots in southwest Florida. For decades, things went roughly according to plan. By the mid-2000s, however, the dreams that were sold as half-acre lots to unsuspecting Midwesterners had turned into gold, surging in price at breakneck speed. And then, like a game of musical chairs, the music stopped. DREAMS FOR SALE is a documentary film that traces the bittersweet story of the rise and fall of Lehigh Acres, told through the eyes of its citizens. It is a tale of hope and despair, of prosperity and loss, and of memories and dreams. This lady lost it all, and she shouldn't have, she did everything honestly and lived her dream but that all came to a end. Now the drug dealers and scam people who moved in had a better chance then her. This is not how the American Dream is about.

SInce this video the housing has gotten better or at least here in Arizona. How has it gotten there? There was and Asian guy here in Arizona that bought 37 million dollars in for closures. The market here in the valley is well.

At one point a man makes a remark about Lehigh not being a "slum" but it is. They want 1000$ a month plus, for a mediocre outdated 2 bed 2 bath no garage no back yard duplex in a high crime area riddled with meth/crack labs! Landlords are asking for first, last, security, non-refundable pet deposits, your first born child and a DNA hair sample for people like me whom have been arrested but not convicted with no evictions who is a self-employed legitimate business owner with a LLC registered in Florida whom is paying taxes but will let drug dealers live in their homes yet this fool has the audacity to say he doesn't want it to become a slum?! Please, I live in the bad area of Fort Myers and it's nicer than LeHigh! I watched this documentary as a reassuring factor LeHigh is NOT anywhere I would EVER want to live as a young adult in their mid-20's let alone raise a family!
