14 May 2013 Unofficial results from Pakistan's general election suggest that the Nawaz Sharif has won an unprecedented third term in power. His centre-right Pakistan Muslim League is on course for an emphatic victory. He faces a difficult task, with the country suffering an economic crisis and facing persistent threats from insurgents. Mr Sharif said that he would help NATO withdraw its troops from Afghanistan next year.
