India: Arrests made as police discover 'baby farm'
Indian police discovered what has been dubbed a ‘baby farm’ in the city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Wednesday, arresting five suspects, including the manager of the private hospital and parents who bought babies. Footage released shows two infants who were found at the hospital. According to the local police authorities, the babies who were a result of a rape or an unwanted pregnancy were sold to couples for an amount between $750 and $1,500 (€662-€1,324). The five suspects who have been detained are facing charges up to 10 years for selling people as slaves. It says these babies were a result of rape or unwanted pregnancies. In the US we would call what they're doing adoption or they would just get an abortion. I understand that maybe they weren't doing this legally, but unless they were holding these women hostage, raping them to get them pregnant and then selling their babies, then I really don't see anything wrong with this. The women didn't want these babies. I could be wrong though...just my opinion.
