In pursuit of the forgotten varieties of mangoes

Today on Prime Time, we visit a mango orchard in Almora in Uttar Pradesh where the owner explains to us interesting facts about mango varieties in his orchard. Nadeem Siddiqui of Shahnaz Exports tells us that people these days do not know about more than a handful of mango varieties when there are over 400 different varieties of mangoes in India alone. Siddiqui explains that mango cultivators are switching to planting only those that are commercially sought after and hence the diversity is slowing diminishing.
