Seafood Watch has been working with NGOs, businesses and governments throughout Southeast Asia to develop the "Southeast Asia Shrimp Aquaculture Improvement Protocol" (SEASAIP). This tool will help shrimp farmers improve their practices in order to achieve the Good Alternative or Best Choice level. The work recognizes there is no single solution for the issues challenging farms and that input from all of the stakeholders, including industry and communities towards a common set of regionally-tailored goals is critical. Seafood Watch is now working in partnership with the Asian Seafood Improvement Collaborative (ASIC) to implement the SEASAIP standards. This work will result in improved aquaculture practices that will, in turn, give the better performing farmers access to the North American marketplace.
