Below is a statement read by KOALA during the office occupation at Hybrid Turkeys/Hendrix Genetics @ 650 Riverbend Rd in Kitchener, ON on April 11th, 2014: After watching graphic undercover footage of Hybrid Turkey employees beating animals to death with shovels and steel rods, decapitating animals with bolt cutters, punching and kicking turkeys, as well as seeing the many animals suffering from injuries and infection we are here today to offer a big Fuck You to Hybrid Turkeys and its corporate master Hendrix Genetics who are responsible for ruining to the lives of countless turkeys, pigs and fish whom they pervert and mutate in the name of greed and profit. Your own corporate policy states that: -Turkeys will always be cared for in ways that minimize fear, pain, stress, and suffering. -Turkeys will be treated with respect and dignity throughout their lives and, when necessary, provided a humane death. In reality the animals imprisoned in your shitty factories undergo the exact opposite treatment -- torture, brutal murder, and death at the hands of paid psychopaths whom you employ. While your shitty corporations are heralded for taking meaningless action to "enhance treatment of animals" by bedfellows such as The National Turkey Federation and Turkey Farmers of Canada, the public knows better. Profits will always come at a high cost to the unlucky animals trapped in your system of incarceration and exploitation. You can also stop trying to fool the public that you care about animals by promoting your relationship with organizations like the Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare whose enterprise consists of standardizing cruel and horrific practices used on farms, animal testing laboratories, and captive animal facilities. On top of this you try to hand blame over to the very person who exposed the animal abuse which you are currently being investigated for, while taking no responsibility for these inhuman acts yourself other than throwing a few of your employees under the bus. We demand the immediate resignation of Hybrid Turkeys Managing Director David Libertini as well as Hendrix Genetics President Thijs Hendrix, CEO Antoon van den Berg, and CFO Luc Claessens for heinous crimes against the animal kingdom including the torture, murder, and genocide of turkeys, pigs, and fish. We call on all animal advocates worldwide to take immediate action against Hybrid Turkeys and Hendrix Genetics who continue to destroy the lives of countless living beings.
