7:27 -- Absolutely correct, on the subject of using salt to purge.
I've researched that myself, as any crawfish boils we did when I was growing up, we'd throw them all in a kiddie-pool with a low-running hose and rock salt. As an adult, I wanted to know how best to purge them.
Salt does nothing for this.
That article you mention -- it was an actual scientific study done at LSU Ag Center a couple of years ago, using a control group along with others. They found that the only effective method of purging is a commercial method of starving them in a conducive environment for 12 hours or more; and yes, it does clean that tract right on out. But, it's not something easily done for the generic consumer. However, the salt bath is pointless. -
Hi Russ, I have 3 questions I need you to answer. 1) Do you have to change out the steaming water everytime you steam a bag of crawfish? 2) How long does the soaking water stay at 143 before you put in the crawfish and after you put in the crawfish? 3)Do you advise steaming or boiling the vegetables?

I live in Arizona, so whenever I get to go to a crawfish boil it is a real treat. I think you could soak an old boot in that Frog Bone soak and it would taste good. This looks amazing!
