In this video I will show you how I save rose seeds. The best time of year is to wait until the hips have turned color for a month or two. In southern Oregon, that's around late Oct. I also like to wait until a good frost has set. If we haven't gotten a frost by late Oct, I will go ahead and pick them anyways. I pull the hips apart and extract the seeds. I rinse them off and dry them on a paper plate for a couple of weeks. Then I put them into a plastic ziplock and store in a cool dry place. You can choose to stratify them for the winter by placing them in the fridge for a few months. I've never done that but it is certainly worth a try.
