This is my first year growing poppies from seed. They were not the right colour of seed in the packet but very pretty nonetheless. I am amazed how short lived they are too. So I deadheaded my first flower and thought I should keep the seeds for next year.

Organical Botanicals is trying to sell genetically modified "Afghan" poppy seeds. THERE IS NO SUCH THING ! This is a scam to make you pay a lot of money for their seeds. If genetically modified seeds were being produced they would be from the island of Tasmania, where Glaxo Smith Kline has the only research facility in the world that could do such work. So many people have given their Credit Card numbers to IZMIR-Organical Botanicals and have never gotten the order. Even worse, IZMIR OB sells your credit card numbers on the black market. Expect to get unwanted charges on your credit card. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. You can buy these seeds from Amazon or e-bay. Or just go to a bakery. The seeds on bagels are opium poppy seeds and ask for poppy seeds. The bakery dosen't even know that they are opium seeds, so don't tell them. Bring in a small bottle and the bakery will probably give them to you for free.

Thanks for this! Are there any poppy seeds that are not safe to eat, or are they all okay?

Hey, thanks!
Got some poppies that have survived after years of neglect from previous owners, and just decided to take care of gardening properly this year. Moved the poppies, but want more next year. This has been a great help. Thank you.
