All you south Americans need to read your history before commenting. Spanish is not your original language. You're arguing that you're right because you are from the location as the grain but you're not even speaking the same language as your ancestors who named this stuff. That's like a white American saying he pronounces Navajo correctly because he's from arizona. Even having Navajo blood doesn't guarantee you're speaking correctly. You can't argue the pronunciation if you're Spanish. You need to prove where this keenwa pronunciation came from because there's no way a English speakers made that up from spelling it "quinoa". Most Americans say key noa by default cuz the spelling so we didn't make up the keenwa pronunciation. Where did that come from?

Not sure where this pronunciation came from. In years of living in S.A., including working on quinoa marketing proposal with the Ecuadorian government, a degree in Spanish and linguistics, and work in the native Quechua language, I never heard the vowels as a dipthong. It was always pronounced with seperate sounds for the "o" and the "a".

Sounds like it should be spelled Keenwa, whoever has the job of coming up with the english spellings for non-english words aught to be fired.
