How to Pick a Ripe Soursop | Guanábana | Graviola | Video
More videos like this at: http://www.junglejoel.com - the fruit of the soursop tree (Annona muricata) can get quite large, up to 5 pounds, or more. It's very tart and has a strong citrus-like smell. Because of the fibrous nature of the flesh, it's often used for making juice. The leaves of the tree are sometimes used for making tea. When ripe, a soursop turns slightly yellow and then gets soft. If you don't pick it at this point, it will quickly fall to the ground, making a smelly mess. It's best to pick it when it just turns slightly yellow, but before it gets soft - allowing it to ripen for a few days indoors. Some other names for this fruit include "guanábana" (Spanish), and "graviola" (Brazilian Portuguese). Please rate and comment, thanks.

I purchased one large soursop from a local Asian market here in Los Angeles. It was $12.99 per pound. It was pretty hard when I got it. I left it on my countertop for a few days to ripe. When I noticed it again on the third day, it had already gone bad. I had to throw it away :(. What a waste of $13. You are very blessed to have these trees around you. Take care.

Another one you well probably not see in the grocery store.

The tea would be cool to taste Joel;just let the leaves soak in boiling water(like mint) and pour with a spoon of sugar if you like a sweet taste.A nice clip showing the flower as well, and it was nice seeing the kissing cousins together:they looked good.Thumbs up:the trees and plants are looking fabulous.`
