Vegiterra Kitchen Lab is a video-art series combining original music, puppetry, painting and vegan cooking. Food is a material which we can all relate, and these episodes showcase vegan cooking as a form of visual media (that you can actually make yourself!). The featured recipes are vegan and are created by Kristofir. All music is written, recorded and produced by Kristofir on a tiny keyboard that has traveled around the world with him. I hope you enjoy this slice of surreality! The ingredients 1 cup soaked red lentils. 1 cup chickpea flour 1 1/4 cups water 3 garlic cloves 1 onion, chopped 2 teaspoons baking powder Salt and pepper to taste Oil for frying You can modify spices to accompany the rest of your meal. I usually add grated ginger, cilantro, chillies, and lemongrass, but you can also add things like oregano, basil for an italian flavour, or garam masala, and asafoetida, to make it taste indian. Its totally up to you and what you want! Add everything to a food processor and blend until smooth. Let this rest for a few minutes while you heat the oil for frying Once it is hot, drop spoon-full's of batter into the oil and cook each side until brown. I like to stab mine in the middle to make sure they are fully cooked, because a mouth full of raw chickpea flour is very unpleasant. Once they are cooked, drain on paper towels to collect the golden tears. It is now ready to eat! You can dip them in your favourite sauces, add them to sandwiches, have them on rice or do whatever you want, I really don't need to explain this any further. Recommended if you enjoy food, vegan cooking, randomness, artsiness, performance art, Laurie Anderson, Cibo Matto, experimental electronic music, synthesizers, puppet shows, PJ Katie's Farm, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and any form of surrealism. Vegiterra Kitchen Lab (VKL) is filmed in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. http://www.vegiterra.com Kristofir's website http://www.kristofir.com original music by Kristofir http://kristofir.bandcamp.com
