The Ikea farmsink I just installed is different from this one. I think Ikea changed it. Be forwarned !!!!!!

ikeas site says sink is 32 and 5/8 inches wide. why do i need a 34" wide hole? and when you say 36 inch base you mean height of cabinet?

Thank you for this!! We got an as-is for $149 woohoo! and was very nervous about prepping the cabinets for install...the manual reads like jibberish to us haha. This video is going to be a life saver.

Hello Tom, thanks for the helpful vid and like many others loved the music. Q: Have you drilled a hole into a Domsjo in order to install an air gap for the dishwasher? If so, what bit did you use?

It the plywood on top of the cabinets necessary? I am trying to retrofit this into an existing kitchen and plan to have the current granite cut to accept this sink. If there isn't already plywood under my granite I don't plan to add it.

Helpful and loved the music.

Thanks for making this video. My wife snagged one in the "as is" area of Ikea for $179. Can't wait to get it installed......... once I have a house. :)

taxminia0311, it can be installed undermount or on top, so who is the dumba** now?

Great video! Thanks for posting, saves me the headache of figuring it out on my own.

Thanks for the help. Just a question about the counter top. Can you install the IKEA farmhouse onto a Formica counter top? Is it strong enough to hold the weight of the sink?
-
Thank You. Just about to install one myself. This just saved me lots of time.

Can you use a 30 inch cabinet?

Did you cut the notches out of the granite yourself using that grinder? I am ordering some remnant pieces and was nervous having the stone cutters make the notches. Also, what depth countertops did you go with. Standard is 25" while Ikea's are all 25+5/8" . Thanks for the video! You saved me quite a few beers and a good load of curse words ;)

no I left them out. Really the weight is sitting on the counter top lip. If you can add them prob better tho.

we're getting ready to do just this in a few weeks. Thanks for the tips! I was wondering do you go ahead and install the metal supports that IDEA provides? this thing is so heavy, I'm afraid my old cabinets won't support it.

I love this video and enjoy all of your videos. For a young homeowner that tries to be handy, your videos have a tremendous impact. Thank you!

you are right, there is some dead space. I always use the original false door front and rip it down long ways, flip it cut side up, and put it back on to complete the job. Great question, I should have showed that last part too.
-
It looks like there is going to be a gap between the bottom of the sink and the origional opening where the faux drawer front was. When you took the 7.25" drop measurement and decreased it by the thickness of the countertop/plywood widths to mark the front of the cabinet, does the sink make contact with the origional opening?
-
Nope, you're incorrect oh eloquent one. This particular sink weighs 137 lbs and is supposed to sit on top of the counter top as per the manufacturers instructions.
