I plan a similar adventure with my daughter's yard. She lives in Dallas, TX has two monster oak in the front yard. She has a traditional sprinkler system that is easily adjustable. If I get this done by Mid to end of January, 2017 do you think she has a shot by March, April, May, or June?

You need to aerate the mixture for a few days prior to dumping it in the area.
-
It's not good to introduce foreign organisms in your region...
-
That spawn did not look very colonized at all. A fully colonized bag should be whitish and solid from the mycelium gluing everything together. You might want to try purchasing from another place and/or letting it sit in a cool dark place to colonize before you do anything with it.
-
How did you filter the water?
-
That ring is called Fairy Ring, a fungus in sod. Kills your grass off as it increases in size. the fairy ring shrooms appear in a circular or arched pattern. White color. See them after rains real humid conditions.
-
Do you test the filtered water for chlorine and chloramines to verify the effectiveness of your filter. Morels grow in the shade.
-
did your morels ever come in? I didn't see a follow up video.
-
Dan you need to introduce your spawn to a woodchuck bed
-
David, best of luck. I imagine many many years from now your grandchildren will come by and the yard will be rife with morels and no one will know why. Hehe

At home! they have a few extra steps involved but wound up with 100's -
Once, only once, a thick ring of morels showed up in my yard around a dying elm tree. Never returned even though I left some for spawning(sigh). Fickle I guess.
