The leaves are still great for teas , bring the water to a boil turn off the heat and add a handful of leaves to the water let it steep with the hot water no additional heat. And it's great I didn't know about the roots though , on my island it grows huge !!

Great video Luke! I've never considered growing lemon grass but I'll try it next year for sure. Never knew that you can dehydrate it and use for tea! Suppose you could use it in many recipes requiring lemon zest or flavoring. Any way thanks for all the growing tips.....I'll grow it with my basil next year.

Did you grow it from seed or a plant start?
-
Thanks for the guide. I have lemongrass growing in a container this year but had trouble growing it from seed. I made two attempts and both had 0% germination so gave up. I ended up finding a small pot of it at a local nursery and got some. I'm hoping for it to survive the winter. here in 7B.

I use the leaves in the soup.

Great video!
I love growing lemongrass here in subtropical Coffs Harbour, Australia.
As you say it's easy to grow, great to cook with, use the leaves in teas with ginger and also the leaves are great mulch when you prune it back! -

What's the best soil to use for growing carrots in?
-
dogs love it .

thank you for this one. I'm growing this in a terra cotta herb pot with sage and rosemary. I'm in zone 4 so those all need to go inside in the winter. good to know about the nutrients, the sage has been yellowing some so I bet the lemon grass is taking all the nitrogen. you are h just missing the information about what to do with it inside over winter.

Haha! I bought Trifecta and put a bit in each of my plant pots(on the top) then scratched the top of them with my fingers to work it in. Then was going to water the Trifecta into the plants because they'd already been planted. But my 2 dogs wanted to lick the trifecta out of the pots. Goofy Dogs!
Great guide Luke, too bad I'm in zone 5b. This lemongrass won't grow here year round. I hate growing things that won't come back except veggie type stuff. It probably wouldn't do very good up here in SD. -
I just planted a perineal lemon grass in zone 4b.

Thanks for this video.... this is great.. I just brought a lemon grass plant, split it into 3 pots to grow through the summer. Then in Sept. I will plant in around the yard. My dog eats so much grass, that I thought if he ate this no big deal, I might eat some too!

Hi! Lemon grass is a common plant here in Philippines, particularly here in Cebu. We usually use it for "Tinolang Manok" 😊
