Do you guys harvest them by hand aswel? 'Cause I've never known onions to be farmed like this. We farm our strawberries this way, on plastic rows with drip pipes underneath and the strawberry plant on top like you did here. I thought onions are farmed in open field just on the ground with big machinery... But I'm guessing you guys have to pull them all out by hand, right?
-
Why are you spending the time to cultivate when you are harvesting in only a week or 2? do you double crop?

Hello guys I'm really new to this kind of farming, where do U place the irrigation pipes?
Can plastic paper work in this kind of farming?
Please hit me back with answers, I'm inspired! -
how do you do the harvesting? is it all by hand or some sort of equipment??

Hi there, I was looking at your videos on youtube, look's good! We also grow onions on mulch, but we plant at a other way than you do. Have a look at my videos, maybe also interesting for you! greetings, Joep

@TrompettedesMorts Hey, we have thought about that (well mostly I have), I am more marketing and agritourism events at our market and winery and my father in law does the growing for the most part and I help him out when needed. For now this is the way he prefers to do it, I have suggested that to him, maybe down the road?

@koertje U use the black to help heat up the soil and keep light away from surface so weeds cannot germinate.

@keithallenlaw Great comments, thank for your perspective. Yea Gene had a point! Gov't kills me, to much waste, and disconnect with what I call the "physics of life" that I deal with everyday as a ag. producer/entreprenuer. I try very hard to balance Greed w/progress. I really don't want 4 anything, I enjoy my life/business/family. I do enjoy solving problems and new challenges, keeps my brain engaged! U take care Sir and best wishes as well w/ur quest!

@keithallenlaw Thanks 4 the input, if U had taken the time you would have seen our video on how we mulch the garlic beds we plant. In years past we also did our strawberries this way, straw has its problems as well. We are small family farm, that tries to make a profit, that is our moral obligation. U don't even know who we R. Profits pay taxes, employee people, make donations 2 charities possible. Do you take pictures for free? Or do you try and make a "profit" for you time and effort?
