C'mon, how about diversified crops, including tropical fruits and vegetables that are chock full of Vitamin A? Instead of allowing people to only eat rice and so manipulating it to add vitamins to it, why not provide access to the fruits and veggies that historically have also been part of the diet? Besides Vitamin A the other foods provide lots of other nutrients they need that rice does not supply. What is next? Making rice with all Vitamins? This issue is about poverty and on a planet that can grow an abundance of good nutritious food we should not need to resort to manipulating rice and making bio-engineers a fortune. Ridiculous.
