It might not make sense, but it does work. Craziest thing ever... Sodium chloride is not good for your soil. There's a reason the term "sowing the earth with salt" is used to describe the act of destroying the ability of land (or metaphorically something else, or someone) to produce any meaningful plant growth. Are you referring to some other salt, or simply a small amount that isn't large enough to cause notable harm, but enough to deter some pests?
-
Salt gets washed away during watering and rain but I can give you a great tip. If you have a chance to get shells from the seaside, then you can crush them up not to fine and sprinkle them around. The salt is locked in the calcium of the shell but is still enough to give the buggers a lot of grief and the bonus is that it does not wash out for a long time or harm the soil. Good luck.
-
Where are you from? I've been trying hard to discover your accent.
-
Hmmm, doesn't make much sense! Try lining the edge of the entire garden in salt!! Good for the soil, but watch if in the US as this will attract deer....

This did not work as planed. But it was a great learning curve and there is info in the updates, you might find interesting. These can be viewed to the right. The plant must have grown the tallest I have ever seen a potato grow and I will try again, as it would be great if this worked according to plan. If anyone has any ideas, they would be welcomed. David.
