Growing Date Palms from Seeds
This is an update and a transplanting video of my Dates that I started from seeds. I grew these indoors, placed by my window. They are about 2 and 1/2 weeks old. This is my second attempt in growing them and I'm quite happy to have 3 rooted! Bought the fruit with seeds, ate the fruit and planted the seeds. :) Enjoy!

You can make wine from dates. It's really good. probably a video about it somewhere, Youtube's good like that.

it is fascinating human ability to complicate somethings...
tip: take the seeds after you enjoyed the fruit, and put them straight in the pot with some compost. Give it a few weeks and, surely enough, you will see them picking out from the soil. -
we produce many date palm trees... our environment needs date palm trees. let's save our earth

I'm gonna so try this. Little mini green house. Very effective. Thanks for posting

mango seeds make wonderful plants, you have to chip down thru the 'hairy' part to get to the seed
-
Thank you for your tips :)

Are they growing today? I live in Miami fl and walk downtown everyday, I only now found out that the street is lined with date palm, Amazing. 20 years here and did not know they were in my city,... Duh???

from the seed soak on the water how many days and on the paper towel on the plastic how many days?

although this is a good way to get a date tree, it is not necessarily a good way to get one that will make fruit. Date trees are male and female. The female makes the fruit. The mature female will make shoots all around it's base and these are removed with a date chisel and planted to guarantee a tree of the same type. Seeds can be cross pollinated and the resulting tree is a coin toss, as to whether it will be the same type of date, male or female. Female trees make female shoots, and male trees make male shoots. You need at least one of each to polinate the dates so they are edible.

you need to push the seeds down and bury them in the dirt.

I ate a load and pushed the seeds into plant pots around the house. I was amazed to see them growing vigorously.

My date seeds are not the same as yours Will that affect germination?
-
and that dates tree have so very sweet ripen fruit
-
i grow it my own it takes a year before it becomes a big tree
-
but it has so very long root when it grows up and if it becomes a tree it will be more fat and bigger
-
can you continue to grow them indoors in a sunny area?
-
Did you continue to wet the paper towel? Or is just once good enough until they sprout?
