I'm growing Chinese garlic this year. I reckon it'll start off as Chinese garlic & end up organic Australian garlic.

Thank you for that. In the past few months all I have heard on radio and tv is 'chinese garlic' because there's a very well known businessman here (Ireland) in jail for irregularities surrounding his Chinese garlic imports. Then, recently, I've heard loads of YouTube gardeners talking about the Chinese garlic too. Thank you for this information. I consider this a good start to the day...I'm having my mug of tea and a wee stroll through the net and I've learned something already. Great job.

Hello from Canada, I can't help but share some information. China is actually the garlic "Capital of the World" as it accounts for roughly 80% of the global production of garlic annually. Of all of China's garlic the majority is grown in Jinxiang county in Shandong province, which according to their website accounts for 70% of China's exports. I'm pretty sure the county must grow nothing but garlic. From one garlic grower to another, cheers and happy growing!

Hi Jeff, thanks for the shout-out. Since my advice on keeping garlic cool for a period I've discovered that the garlic growing capital of the World is California. I can't imagine much frost there. Anyway, my cool garlic is growing beautifully. Hope yours does the same. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Jeff, I only learnt recently that they spray that chinese garlic with all sorts of heavy poisons. In the past, I have had that chinese garlic sprout on me plenty of times. We just store it in the pantry. Is there a reason you were putting it in the fridge? I'm no expert, that's why I ask. If there is no reason, then maybe try storing it in the pantry and it might sprout better for you. Sometimes it sprouts, sometimes it just rots. Probably something to do with how much spray they got or not.

Been growing 'elephant' garlic for a number of years. Big heads, size of a softball. Just remember to take off the flower stalk before it blooms so as to put more growth in the bulbs. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, keep em coming. Peace and good health...

The garlic capitol of the united states is Gilroy California. Driving through, when the garlic is blooming, the smell is OVERWHELMING. Most peope don't like the smell, but I love it. BTW, I agree with ambtat's comment below. I just stick em right in the ground. I've never trimmed them down though. Maybe I'll try that. Good luck amigo.
