Hi Jeff question I'm growing okra I normally harvest 3-5 lbs. every 3 days with 100 plants just planted another 150 plants its organic my problem is they developed a powder mold so I used the baking soda and dish soap to remove this and then removed the infected leaves as suggested the okra is now developing pimples or bumps like a bite then bumps I noticed this even on the fresh starts just out of the bud stage but there are some okra that are just fine on the same plant is it a deficiency in the soil there are no mites or bugs that I can see I just pruned them back as well. Any ideas?

I plant 3 in 1 big pot, 2 become tow miters hight and one 50cm, so I took a cut and grow it so it don't do higher than 2M,
After 5th harvest the leafs become small but it's still fruiting, is that normal for the leafs or it need more sun?
Thanks -
I am in NW Houston. I have been starting Okra from seeds from inside the house and transplanting them to the ground without major problems. I found out the trick is not to disturb the roots, so I keep the plants in individual thin plastic containers and just cut open the containers when transferring the plant.
To keep the bugs away, I use a hose on high pressure setting just every few days and never had an aphid infestation. -
in GREECE the okra cut it with the hands. and size 3 cm

Okra is also grown as seedlings by Bonnie Plants they are grown in small peat pots and there is no shock to the plant since you just plant it in the ground. I just planted my first, doing well here in west Tn. Great video thanks from an Okra novice.

Hi Jeff, yes, the okra is growing fine in my row garden. It does grow quickly. To the folks who are doing it for the first time, be informed that the pods will get tough if you let them go and become longer than 4 to 6 inch length. The point is to pick the pods while still tender, sat 3 to 5 inch length. I went to a local nursery and bought "Chinese Okra " which turns out to be a gourd like fruit that grows on a VINE type plant. Have you tried that variety ? Jim K

My family have boiled and fried Okra and some call it Okro. We done this for years. Southern style. I didn't know this was new for so many people. And it's also good cooked African and Caribbean style. Not just for gumbo. Yummy
