Green Evolutions Aquaponics Cantaloupe 15.6.12
Green Evolutions Aquaponics Cantaloupe 15.6.12 Quick look at the Cantaloupes... We are using hammocks to support the fruit as we are growing them vertically on a trellis... I am trying a new intro and will be experimenting with some editing later on to try and make the my videos more interesting... I just watched John over at http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ and picked up a few tips on how to make a more enjoyable vidio for you to watch .. Thanks for stopping by to learn more about Aquaponics Thailand is where we call home now.. With over 7 years of large scale and commercial Aquaponics experience and consulting at greenevolutions aquaponics , I have evolved the commercial Aquaponics system to the next level.. Using cultured probiotic bacteria.. Both aerobic and anaerobic.. As well as natural plant extracts and fermentation to unlock the minerals and amino acids naturally, to supercharge the natural system, to the highest level of production available in Aquaponics today.. With a collection of bacteria and beneficial fungi, harvested from the ancient deep jungle forests of Southeast Asia. I also cultivate the powerful purple phototrophic bacteria, right there on the farm.. As well as the workhorse of the probiotic world.. Lactobacillus.. I will be making all this available for you in a DIY kit so you can then grow your own at home … like seed saving, once you start your colonies, you can grow them for years to come .. With this combination of beneficial aerobic and anaerobic bacteria yeasts and fungus.. We inoculate all the zones in our system and let the Bacteria to do the work they evolved to do. till next time friends James Harrison Commercial Aquaponics in Thailand https://youtu.be/3HRwF00w7cc https://www.GreenEvolutionsAquaponics.com https://www.facebook.com/greenevolutions/

I'm planning on building a 2000 gallon system this up coming summer and I could really use some help on the system design to allow for growing fruits. I've got a pretty simple design idea to grow veggies and herbs, that's the easy part. But how to design a system to handle fruit trees and vines is a touch above my abilities. Could you possibly give me some tips?

James, HELP!!! I have approximately 2000 gal IBC tote aquaponic system set up in my garage. 3 media beds and 4 DWC"s. In one of my DWC's I have multiple cantaloupe plants, lots of runners with 100's of flowers BUT no fruit. I have a 600 watt LED over each grow bed and was told to cut the "on" time from 18 hrs a day to 12 hrs a day and then then plants would flower. That worked. Now its been about 30 days - a ton of flowers but not the first cantaloupe. Lots of dropped flowers. pH 6.5.
iron 2ppm, ammonia almost "0", nitrites "0" nitrates 10-30 ppm. Roots look great.
Runners have traveled to the 2nd and 3rd DWC's and flowering. I lightly shake the vine holding the flowers at least once a day. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!! I feel like I'm doing something simple and silly. Any ideas?? Thanks, Butch -
Looks like a very large system you have. I am just setting up in Chanthaburi. If you have time can you talk about the Do's & Donts of start up in Thailand. I have never seen broken bricks as media but thats a good idea. Cheers, Ed

Why do we use fish? Isn't it cheaper to buy nutritients and give them directly to the plants? I mean, fish has to eat, and isn't the amount of vegetebles equal or lower than the amount of fish food that we provide? Or does the bacterias add nitrogen from the atmoshphere?

Hi the local Thai people love the fresh fish .. and a few get the non carcinogenic idea.. but my market is mostly foreign owned restaurants and ex-pat's with a taste for chemical free "Super-Naturally Grown" food that tastes great .. those I have a line up and waiting list for ... I don't bother with the large locally owned hotels as the accountants only care about the price.. Some of the foreign owned ones are OK ... but are also seasonal....
