Gopaldhara Tea Estate, Darjeeling
This is the 'Gopal-Dhara.' Gopal refers to Lord Krishna & Dhara means a stream. This waterfall runs right through the middle of the estate. Since early 1930 the stream is being used to generate 60 kw hydel power and an old 1906 Oldham U.K. peloton wheel continues to generate power for the tea factory. It is beautiful and is a source of potable water for the inhabitants. Since March 2012 we have diverted water from here for gravity irrigation and out of 300 acres of 100 year old tea plantations we have covered 124 acres. Yesterday survey was completed in 48 additional acres. Another 50 acres will be irrigated from another source. Climate change has made this necessary and already the teas are looking healthier.

The dirty 'Krishna' has protected and nurtured the tea fields. The Lord's kindness manifests itself in many forms and at Gopaldhara his benevolence is seen flowing and showering bounty on the people.
