An investor conference has been organized in Tamale by the authorities of the Ghana Commercial Agriculture project (GCAP) to boost the interest of investors into rain fed rice production in the Nasia-Nabogu valley of the northern region. Over 10,000 Hectares of land suitable for rain fed rice production in the Nasia Nabogu Valley have recently been acquired and prepared by the Ghana Commercial Agriculture Project, (GCAP) for the cultivation of improved rice production. The one hundred and forty five million dollar ($145 million) GCAP project is being funded by the World Bank and USAID and it is expected to run for a period of five years. Currently, the project is receiving business proposals from interested investors across the SADA zones and the Accra Plains to access matching grants for rice cultivation. Interacting with journalist at the investors’ conference in Tamale, the Agribusiness Analyst for GCAP, Galina Akko they will concentrate on develop water harvesting infrastructure to improve the dry season farming.
