Genetically Engineered Rice - What Every Consumer Should Know
A short easy-to-understand animation video to raise public awareness on what GE Rice is and the serious risks attached to it. Produced in 2008 by Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PAN AP) and National Poison Centre (Universiti Sains Malaysia).

God damn propaganda, u got any idea how much genetic engineering has benefited farmers particularly golden rice. Are u against this technology just because Rockefeller Foundation funds it? Well I guess they have funded more good cause in a single donation then u can ever reach in your lifetime

Explained in 2½ in a video, easier to understand, than what I in school didn't get in all the years.

This vid provides no links yet makes many claims

that is the whole point of golden rice you stupid lady. you say the ONLY people that suffer from blindness are the poor. Do they not matter to you. Go get a clue.

Why not give those farmers carrots to plant?...plenty of available beta-caratine, a nice variation from rice. The suicide epidemic among indian BT cotton farmers is well documented. Benefits or health dangers aside, a seedless crop represents stranglehold control. This means that foreign companies could gain unethical control of a nation's food resources, an attack on the national sovereignty and right to self determination of a people. This alone makes all discussion on the institution of ge crops with the suicide gene moot. Making crops pesticide resistant allows farmers higher concentrations of weed killer, also well documented. GE crop farm workers and their families have been documented with severe illnesses stemming from elevated pesticide. Pesticide producing plants do increase insect resistance through mutation, as not all the insects will die. Mexican ge corn was documented as suffering from fungi, something the plants were not engineered to resist. The biodiversity issue is important, because a mutating disease will only be able to vary so much, allowing diverse species of the same kind of plant to survive. Grafting plant species together is not the same as splicing plant and animal genes. And finally, whether the rats are susceptible to tumor development or not, the fact that they developed tumors is enough to provide grounds for further investigation.

Clearly these fat guys dont believe the doctors either lol.. Not that im also a biology scholar.
-
I love how im the worlds strongest kid telling fat guys that GMO food causes cancer!

ah... propaganda. if you don't want GE Rice dont eat. $tupid girl...

This is such bullshit. Sure when we make a GE plant the insertion is in a random place. But we then SEQUENCE the genetic information of the plant and after that we know exactly where is the insertion. The people who made this video have no idea what they are talking about. The 9kg golden rice is an old modification of 2004. Since then they improved the content 20-fold and now you need 75 gramms of golden rice per day to solve vitamin A deficiency problems. Over 250k people go blind each year and they could be saved if not for bullshitters like those who made this video. Read peer-reviewed scientific papers for christ sakes!

She lied on Indian Farmers' suicide

Do you want to know the reason Monsanto puts pesticides inside the corn etc.? Because it doesnt have to be tested in any way to see if it is dangerous.New pesticides have to be tested and even though Monsanto owns our government it makes it easier .Cabbage is food even though it has scorpion poison inside of it.Gene shuffling makes new viruses. If the CDC has lax protocals can the labs keep the new viruses away from us? I doubt it.Does anyone find human genes inside rice sick?

Thank tyou for this video.Americans need to wake up.

Do not feed the TroLLs.. (So many here).. Unless you feed them GMO's.. eat up You sickos defending these practices, which will control nearly the entire planets food supply by Corporations for Profit. :/

I am deeply shocked and embarrassed seeing that this video came out of a premier Malaysian university. "Totally unnecessary and a waste of good money." I suppose that is a good description of the money spent keeping the people who made and approved this video on the payroll. Their many years of education has certainly come to good use, as demonstrated by their maddening ignorance, contortion of facts and scaremongering campaigns against a noble effort. I am glad that it remains in relative anonymity for it would only bring shame to our great country.

One day the plants turns into a carnivorous alien, feeding on mammals, reptiles, insects, etc....ha! Ha! Ha!

This video ignores the fact that the global population is growing rapidly and something needs to be done to increase yields and GM crops are one of the most viable ways of doing this without requiring more land. What's going to happen to all the people across the globe who live in poverty or are on low incomes when food prices rocket due to demand increasing and supply remaining stagnant. What is the solution then? We'll have millions of people in our own countries and developing countries starving and you're going to stand there and tell them that we can't use a basic solution because it will ruin your heritage? It is the most illogical argument I've ever heard.

The Chinese government (and all governemets for taht matter) should really be warry of Monsanto and other players of this very ugly business that is making everybody sick. It is a sickening business.
-
The Monsanto defenders are out in full force to discredit this video (as usual). That probably means that it is indeed a good video. :-)

There's probably no good measure for the number of doses of GM food consumed over the past few decades outside of using the word "billions", and not a single person's gotten sick or died. Seems okay.
Monsanto uses some terrible business tactics, and is not really trustworthy. But it's Monsanto or a company very much like it that will save the world in the next few decades.
