Small holder farmers within the catchment area of Ghana Commercial Agricultural Project, GCAP, initiative under the improved rain fed rice project in the northern region has show preparedness to work with potential investors to improved the cultivation of rice in the region at large. The one hundred and forty five million dollar ($145miilion) Ghana Commercial Agriculture Project (GCAP) is an initiative of government and funded by the World Bank and USAID to ensure food security by improving the production of quality rice in the country. The five year initiative will support small holder farmers within the catchment zones to improved rain fed rice production in the northern, Accra plains, parts of the Brong Ahafo and volta region under a matching grant facility. Interacting with farmers during the visit by potential investors to the Nasia Nabogu Valley some smallholder farmers expressed their preparedness to work with any potential investors since the initiative will improve dry season farming the community. The Chief Director for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Joseph Boamah also noted that, the ministry is all out to support this agenda, he was quick to added that, the approach will help to develop the rural communities.
