GAMBIA PUTS THOUNSANDS OF LAND FOR RICE PRODUCTION, GAMBIAN LEADER
The Gambian leader has said that the country put under cultivation thousands of acreages of land around the country for rice production. The remark was contained in his statement at the just concluded US-AFRICA LEADERS SUMMIT, IN WASHINGTON. According to him, his Government has recently launched Vision 2016 initiative for food self sufficiency, especially in rice production. This means in less than 24 months, the country will ban importation of rice and depends on the rice produced by its own people. Aja Dahaba reports
