I am very much a "shrimp" fan. I agree with your overall conclusion. I sit and watch and know that :Cheese Curds" are a staple of life I'm from WI, . I think Texas/Gulf of Mexico Shrimp are the best.

I don't like the taste of the baja shrimp I prefer shrimp from Pacific Ocean then you will see the difference, smell and taste.

Your unidentified shrimp was probably Pacific white shrimp. If you get local grown (such as we get seasonally in Texas) it is as good as a tiger from overseas and wild Gulf caught. All depends on the cooking style and your own taste buds, unless the shrimp has gone bad. In a shrimp boil, always add a good amount of vinegar to the water (acidify it) and you will notice how any shrimp will be firmer and pick up the seasoning. Great comparison and keep enjoying seafood.

Nice review Jim! I like shrimp.... :)

I got a hair up my ass a couple of years ago and bought the wild shrimp. I liked it, but to this day I'm pissed off about spending over double for something that was only slightly better in my opinion

Good review Jim. I HATE farm raised shrimp, mainly because I grew up in N.C. and used to be able to get good shrimp right off the boats. Wild shrimp will often have an 'iodine' taste to them which is perfectly normal and it depends on the salinity of the water where they caught in. This is probably the weird taste your wife was referring to.
