Farm pond- Water harvesting structures in semi arid lands
Semi-arid lands have typically rainfall between 300 mm to 750 mm. Rainfall is sporadic and usually less than 30 rainy days. When a downpour occurs which is more than 30 mm surface runoff needs to be captured. This can then be used as supplementary irrigation when rainfall fails to occur over more than 7 to 10 days and the crops need lifeline water. By incorporating a rabbit hutch and a chicken coop , the droppings are used to rear fish in the farm pond. The water too has richer nutrients for the land when applied - truly fertigation. This is being demonstrated in the GKVK-University of Agricultural Sciences campus in Bangalore,India.

Please remember that the utility, feasibility and scientific validity of the so called "well recharging" and "point recharging" etc. depend on so many spatio-temporaly varying parameters. Disappearance of water diverted into wells is not an indication of corresponding increase in available water from the same well. May be she has just partially saturated an unsaturated zone. Even if one assumes that one can fully saturate a dry zone, only a small fraction of water (not exceeding 20%) can be recovered, considering the specific yield of the aquifer. Or there may be a rapid subsurface drainage. First of all a well cannot be recharged. Only an aquifer can be recharged. So one needs to study so many things such as the natural infiltration capacity and recharge characters of the surface soil and subsurface strata, 3D mapping of the aquifer, determining aquifer parameters, quality of the roof water used for recharging, etc. to name a few. So the tendency of felicitating and generalising such experiments is dangerous.

Yes it will , depending on the percolation rate and the soil profile.

If we construct water pond in the farm land collect rain water, will it peculate inside the earth and increase water source to bore well adjacent to the pond??

Thank you for translating in English that was very kind of you , you must be a friend of the Dalai Lama , Peace

it s not very practical.i saw a unit at gkvk.blore.thr animals looked hot n miserable.probably wont be healthy.also it wil b expensive.better allow warer to drain back to the earth and recharge ground water.pl check present status.i saw this when it was new 5 or 6 years.nice video though.pl keep it up.!
