Factory Farming of Chickens in India
India is rapidly embracing Western methods of industrial animal agriculture. To date it has the world's largest dairy herd, is the world's third largest producer of eggs, and is the sixth largest producer of poultry meat. The expansion of India's animal products sector is already having global impacts, including on the crucial challenge of climate change. Vast amounts of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere when land is cleared to grow feed crops, on which fossil-fuel based fertilizers and pesticides are used. The animals themselves are large emitters of greenhouse gases, and India's cattle herd is the largest global livestock source of methane; a greenhouse gas 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. As India produces more and more animal products, the long term viability of such actions is an open question, particularly as climate change gathers pace.

What idiots. India does not have a 2,000-year-old culture of vegetarians. India's cuisine goes back thousands of years, and meat dishes were common even then. Hindus even ate beef. They didn't raise new cattle to replace the ones they killed for meat, so the Brahmins declared cows sacred and only for use for milk and plowing fields.

The waste and untidiness is not just the problem in India but through out the world. In Fact these farms are way better than those tyson facilities in USA.

The problem isn't the gases the problem isn't that India is better China's better North America's bad. The problem is it is inhumane the way they treat animals.

Stop blaming India for producing food for their people. Think about how little India polluted while the West got rich with their industries while polluting the atmosphere. Why cant the West produce just enough meat for themselves rather than exporting meat to Asia?
In Norway there is so much overproduction of meat that its cheaper to feed your dog with pork belly than dog food. Why dont they stop production if its bad for the environment?
Norway with 5 million people has 3,5 million hens that lay eggs and each produces 320 eggs every year. Is this not overproduction for 5 million people?
The finger pointing at Asia has to stop. I remember when George Bush blamed the Indians and Chinese for the high cost of food in the US, a country where more than half the people are obese and bariatric surgery in the tens of thousands every year. -
Stop blaming India for producing food. Think rather of how little India gases produced previously when the West was polluting the atmosphere with their industries to get rich.
The West is actually exporting meat to other parts of the world. In Norway there is so much over production of meats that its cheaper to feed your dog with steaks than dog food! -
No! Don't embrace our bad habits! It's bad for animals and people alike! Be INNOVATORS not COPY-CATS!
