I lived in China for over a decade and am qualified to say a thing or two about China. In a nutshell, it is a Paper Tiger.
China is a pariah nation which no one likes (NOT even the Zimbabwean or the North Koreans, when ransom is not paid). China's thuggish government is one of thugs, by thugs and for thugs.
China is sitting on top of Volcano of Problems. They are extremely paranoid and weak, domestically. Their "domestic" policing budget is MORE than their National Defense budget. Their food, water, air, milk powder, toys, vaccination shots (to name a few) are all polluted or contaminated. The people are NOT allowed a voice. You get the idea. //The government is essentially a Mafia Gang. They caused, enabled or contributed to the death of over 80 million people within China, which is More than the COMBINED worldwide fatalities of all nations during WWI and WWII. You get the idea why they government is paranoid.
They are belligerent outside, especially in South China sea, as they TRY to whip up Nationalism, now their ONLY source of legitimacy. // They lost MORE than 3 million square KM of territories to Russia in 19th Century and early 20th Century. The loss was later RATIFIED by the Communist Mafia Government, IN ORDER to secure AID from the former Soviet Union. The Mafia regime is completely SILENT on that lost; otherwise, their "traitorous" nature will be exposed. // The belligerence in the South China Sea is SIMPLY a tool, to whip up pathetic Nationalism IN ORDER to prop up the COLLAPSING regime.
So, get your Wine, Cheese, and Peanuts and be READY to watch on CNN, LIVE, China's Implosion.
Their 29 provinces will likely split and form their OWN Republics. Remember Yugoslavia which splintered into different smaller Republics (I-go-Slavia, She-go-Slavia, He-go-Slavia, They-go-Slavia, We-go-Slavia)? China will be on that path.
By then, one of the GREATEST source of menace to World Peace would have been eliminated -
We need more people like this in the state department.

"Nice guys finish last." is indeed a myth. The fact is "Nice guys can't even survive to make the finish line."~
