Driftwood VLOG Sri Lanka Ella is the perfect place to cool down in hot Sri Lanka and take in some breathtaking scenery. We took a train to Ella, which is a cheap and great way to travel. It takes a while, but we never got tired of looking out of the windows at the landscape and people around us. To see Ella you should stay for at least 2 days. We started our time with a hike up Little Adam’s Peak. It has nothing in common with the real Adam’s Peak, because it is the opposite: Quiet, uncrowded and green. You have a great view from both though. The next day we went to the tea factory. We had to take two different busses, which was a bit tricky but after asking around, we made it to the bottom of a little hill in about 30 minutes total. But we were not there yet, because the tea factory is at the top of that hill which is a steep and 1.7 km long. After catching our breath, we took a tour through the factory for about 30 rupies per person. We were a little late (4pm) so one of the 5 production steps already stopped, but we still got a pretty good picture of how everything works. At the end of the tour you get to taste different teas and of course they want you to buy some at their shop. Even though we appreciate their hard work, the tea at that shop is overpriced. But the view from the top of the building while sipping your tea is magnificent.
