Drying rice on the highway in rural Thailand
We see this all the time where people dry there rice on the road or the side of the road next to there house, But this is the first time I have seen this on the highway, And so much of it. In the morning when we first saw it there was a lot more rice. It probably dries very fast on the newly paved black asphalt road. very well known view from here, too. ;-) here we even thresh on the roads (never saw rice but often pulses and millet) , with kind help of bus, truck and private vehicle ;-)

I have seen the same thing in the Philippines. Best wishes Bob.

Okay, now I understand why we should always rinse rice carefully LOL You had a good harvest!

We just get lots of orange cones and a man leaning on a shovel ;-)

Poor farmers and fishermen it doesn't pay too often to be at the bottom of the pyramid. That said I guess the local fishermen here are getting a good price for their lobster this year and there are lots of the.

hows the fish doing?

I bet a drunk driver could make a mess out that rice drying plan in a hurry

wow...that's crazy with the rice there...The Cops don't do anything about it? That sure was a lot of rice too...

I suppose they have always used the road for drying the rice.
-
what kind of rice are they growing? is that normal for them to dry it on the street like that?
-
It's so crazy, you have to love it!

This Is Thailand! (TIT) They dry all kind of stuff on the black asphalt roads in the rural areas. In the area I am when in Thailand, there are some places I always drive extra carefully to avoid upset the farmers in the village. And if there is a party, wedding or funeral, they put up their party tents that blocks half the road. Most of the time with the police approval. I thought it was 80 Km/h and not 90 on that kind of road, if I'm not wrong. You normally need 2 lanes in each directions before it is 90. :-)
