Tucked away in a secluded bay off the Indonesian island of Lombok, some of the world's most valuable cultured pearls are being brought to life. Autore has been cultivating South Sea pearls since 1991—a painstaking process that begins with the cultivation of six species of algae, which are brought in from Australia, and ends in a matured oyster with its prized pearl. From cultivation to harvesting, the process takes four years. Join DestinaAsian's video team as we take a behind-the-scenes look at Autore's Lombok pearl farm. Tours of the facility are available for around US$20 per person and can be reserved by calling 62-370/684-4895.
