T/I: 10:15:10 The worst heatwave in Cyprus for 25 years has caused the Dipotamos dam in the Kalavassos area near Limmassol to completely dry up, leaving thousands of dead fish rotting on the dam bed. When Cypriot newspapers reported the ecological disaster, the government immediately sent officials and workers to the site to collect the dead fish. Temperatures on the Mediterranean island have been above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) for eight consecutive days, making it the worst heat wave in a quarter of a century. I could step forward and just take the fish out of the water. So it's gone down this amount here, in six-eight weeks and this over here - the cconcrete structure in the water, you couldn't even see that and the water was right above the pathway that you can drive across now, up the wall slightly so we've lost 8-10 feet of water in as many weeks." gv dried resevoir bed 1.57 You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/youtube/22ab152fbce739fbe47ccfc348f55bb9 Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork
