Crews used a temporary air compressor to inflate the Waverly dam for the first time on Thursday, May 19, during an hour-long process. Additional tests utilizing the computer system and permanent compressors for inflation will take place on Wednesday, according to Stanley Consultants Project Manager Martin Weber. PCI Construction crews as well as representatives from Obermeyer Hydro, Stanley Consultants and various subcontractors will be present. Crews will then begin work on pulling down the cofferdam and start the second set of gates on the west side. "We were shooting for this year, 2011, to be completed and we are on schedule," said Weber, adding that additional tests of about a dozen rock anchors have been conducted as well. by Adam Gruenewald, news1@waverlynewspapers.com
