Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project: The Facility (Part One) | WIRED
WIRED takes a look inside Nevada’s pioneering commercial-scale solar energy plant, which uses nothing more than the sun, molten salt and a load of mirrors to generate enough electricity to power 75,000 homes. If the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy facility works as promised, it could be a model for the future of renewable energy. I designed one of these on a white board during a job interview at ASU. Because I wasn't in a suit and professionals at the college, Tempe Police officers and white supremacists working for the ASU Police had started rumors about my sanity, the HR director had Tempe PD escort me out of the building. This was in 2011. This wasn't the first time the skinhead racists in Tempe has worked against some-one that didn't mesh well with their control mechanisms.
