Yopi Heriyanto is a successful small scale farmer in East-Java, Indonesia. He works with nature, avoiding pesticides and chemical fertilisers and is convinced that organic farming is the future for all farmers. In this video Yopi shows how he works with nature, integrating ducks, fish and azola in his rice production. And how nature continuously provides farmers with new functions to optimise the production system. The video also features Uma Khumairoh, PhD student at the Farming Systems Ecology Group from Wageningen University. Complex adaptive rice cultivation make part of a bigger project in which farmers from around the world give their perspectives on agriculture in general and show their successful agroecological cultivation systems.
