Commercial Surrogacy Exploiting Women Of The Developing World?
The Baby Makers: The controversial new export industry that's transforming lives for impoverished Indians and Infertile western couples. Subscribe to Journeyman for more: http://www.youtube.com/journeymanpictures For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=67063&bid=2 Assisted reproductive technology has become a booming industry in India. Around 1500 surrogacy centres give hope to desperate couples, helping lift surrogate mothers out of poverty; but at what cost? "We tried IVF for 4,5 years. I fell pregnant 4 times and lost all 4 babies", says Kali Gerakas from Australia. She is now the proud mother of twins, Costa and Christina. Surrogacy has become a lucrative industry in many parts of India. Some believe the $7000 fee per birth, is a win-win situation, for both hopeful foreign parents, and Indian surrogate mothers. But with many surrogates coming from very poor backgrounds with little or no education, there are concerns that some are pressed into the industry by their husbands and families, as a quick way to make money. "They have been brainwashed because they are so poor", argues Kishwar Desai, author and surrogacy critic, "people are forgetting that there are human beings and emotions involved". In this highly unregulated industry, parents' dreams face exploitation by overcharging clinics. But as pioneering commercial surrogacy business person Dr Patel believes: "if you feel that the childless should live a life of misery, or the poor are meant to remain poor, then you will consider this as something immoral, a baby making factory". Try adoption! So many babies are left behind because of the "human puppy mills"... So sad that this is allowed!

Surrogate motherhood is often associated not only with sun and happiness in the family, but also unpleasant scandals. And not always doctors or clinics are guilty but in most scandalous situations just biological parents are guilty. Often it happens because of money things. But women’s bodies, and children, are not merchandise. There are some cases where a surrogate mother will volunteer for the pregnancy purely for altruistic reasons. Or because they really enjoy being pregnant. To it seems admissible maybe even admirable in a way. But also irresponsible on the part of the surrogate in the sense that she is knowingly, and willingly putting her physical and mental health at risk just to satisfy an urge to experience pregnancy. Barring negative, personally I think that surrogacy should be an available option, but strictly regulated. I think that surrogacy should be accessible to couples that would not be able to have a child on their own. Having children is a gift that some people take for granted. Some do not even have the option to conceive a child of their own and need the help of as surrogate mother. I heard about services of Ukrainian surrogate mother conducting the program in Biotexcom. With a lot of positive reviews. I can’t say from personal experience, but I think if you really dare to take a such step better do it only in cooperation with specialized clinics.

I`m infertile for many years. When I was 19, I got pregnant for the first time. With my boyfriend, we were so happy. We loved each other and pregnancy seemed to be such a happiness. But once, we decided to go to a concert of my favourite group. There were so many people. Drunk boys near us were rather violent. One of them occasionally hit me. I felt a horrible pain. We immediately went to the clinic. Doctors diagnosis was horrible – miscarriage. It resulted in infertility. Some years ago, we have thought of surrogacy. However, I`m not sure. It`s too expensive for us. It will take us 20 years to earn enough. I`m in despair.

I completely agree with many commentators. India was the worst variant for infertile couples. But I understand that people who used surrogacy there. For many of them it was the last chance to have children. They can`t afford to use surrogacy in other countries. In the US one need to have more than $100 000 to do it. It`s impossible to get such money for ordinary people. I work in one of the clinics in CA. We deal with surrogacy and ART as a whole. We advise many our patients to go abroad. About a year ago Argentina was a perfect variant. Bu now Zika is widespread there. So I can`t recommend South America as a surrogacy destination. Now many of our patients go to Georgia, some prefer to go to Ukraine. They offer good programs for small money. Everybody was satisfied with their work.

i dont see anything wrong here
God blessed them both -
We've also decided to have surrogacy abroad. Costs for this procedure are too high for our abilities. We want to have kids no matter what! First we tried IVF. We had 5 cycles and all of them failed. Each failure was unbearable. Each following cycle was like a knife in my heart. IVF pulled a lot of money from us. That's why we needed to find a clinic with good conditions and lower price. We chose Ukrainian biotexcom. First of all because of good reviews and reasonable price. This clinic is really popular I should say. We were there in July to meet with our doctor. There were really many people. We were standing in lines for hours and there were many couples who were staying with us. We all have one aim and I'm glad to find this place which can help us to have children.

this whole idea makes me cringe, this shows that this is the human chicken coup. with the awful conditions of India, the surrogate mothers are poor and have no other option, and this is the best someone in their government system could offer as a supporter of family's.

I want surrogacy is totally ban in india .FUCK ELITE SCTION .

I think this is great. it seems like a fantastic opportunity for the poor Indian families to be lifted out if poverty, it gives the biological parents a dream they couldn't afford in their own country.. it's totally a win- win situation, what's wrong with that?

So very happy for the Greek couples.

my baby boys were born by a surrogate in Kyiv, Ukraine and there's no way I can call this country "developing world" like India. I was absolutely satisfied with the conditions we stayed at and with the level of medical service. and the main reward was our long-awaited parenting

This is such a good example of why I believe in science more than religion. We have created a way for humans to conceive babies they never could have conceived. Let me get this straight. Those conceiving the babies are willing parties and are fully aware of the emotional strain afterwards, but they still voluntarily chose to do it. And hey, they get a lump sum of money afterwards, while the other party receives a baby they could never have. Its basically a win win: a happy family with money and a happy family with a baby.

India seems to be a very polluted and insanitary. i can't understand how europeans and other western trust their future babies for ladies who live in such terrible conditions. India at first was on our surrogacy destination list, but we chose Ukraine and it was a right decision. our twins will see the world in September! endlessly happy
