Collgar Wind Farm ( Merredin )
Collgar Wind Farm is a $750 million renewable power project at Merredin in Western Australia’s central wheatbelt. Merredin farmers have leased portions of their properties to Collgar Wind Farm for the largest single stage wind farm in the southern hemisphere to date. The Collgar Wind Farm, built over a land envelope of 18,000 Ha, has 111 Vestas V90 turbines with a total power production capacity of 206 MW, generating between 650GWh to 850GWh per year, enough to provide electricity to power a small city of 120,000 and 170,000 homes. This is more than double the size and power generating capacity of the next two biggest wind farms in WA, at Walkaway near Geraldton and Emu Downs near Cervantes. The Collgar Wind Farm has almost doubled the level of renewable energy in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) from 5 percent to 9 percent. Government policy has established a target 20 percent renewable energy by 2020 across Australia. Collgar Wind Farm generates and delivers clean, renewable electricity into the SWIS each year, thereby making a major contribution to Western Australia’s greenhouse gas reductions. These reductions are equivalent to taking 120,000 and 160,000 cars off the road or planting approximately 1 million trees. _____________________________ Music By - Bob Dylan - Song Title - "Blowin In The Wind". _____________________________ Intro & Outro - Song - Kevin Blight (Stratboy999) Graphics - Jeroen Oppers

This video "blew" us away :)
Thanks VB Ed! -
We have wind farms scattered across southern Idaho where I live. A lot of the locals don't like them because we're not getting the benefits. All the power generated is lined to Oregon. Our power rates keeps going up to new record heights to maintain them. So we basically get double screwed.

I like to watch those things turning.
-
freaks me out how far apart those turbines are from each other
-
Thats one big windfarm,i didnt realise how big those things are until i passed by one last year.
-
Amazing these things can generate enough electricity to power a small city
-
I have never been convinced about wind farms they tried to have some of them here in the UK but I think they are a blot on the landscape and I am not yet convinced they are affective either mate

Cool!!!!

Wind farms are saving the planet, for sure, but these days, they're overdoing it a bit. There are more wind turbines than trees in some places ;-) I wish they would invent a less visible turbine. I saw a German design from the 1920s in an old book, it looked like a giant wheel and was placed horizontally, and another one that looked just like a steel column, it was several 100 meters high, and you wouldn't need dozens or hundreds of those turbines, just one for an entire city. But I think they were never built.

looking good buddy,a big thumbs up for you,hey check this,id love to hear your opinion on it,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWW-HGo_WI8

Never seen W.A so green...But i always went there during summer...Cheers Ed

thats a big tractor

Lot of farmers say the turbines cause them health problems, saw a video of a wedgetail eagle flopping around on the ground after being hit by a turbine, locals say plenty of birds get struck by them. I wonder how cost effective they are.

Super vid Ed! Watching this made me think ...... could, one day, someone stumble on these .. ancient at the time of discovery, and ponder their purpose, speculate about the people (possibly with alien help) who built these monsters out in an open field (think Stonehenge). The questions these would raise in a distant future ..... What was the purpose for these giant fans? Religious, cultural art, scientific, or perhaps evidence that we have been visited in the past by visitors from the stars ...... all that being said the information here is Great! But the thought of the comparison between these mega structures and Stonehenge is the stuff of novels, books, cult development and T. V. Shows ..... not to mention the folks gathering at the Winter Solstice wearing plastic hats, cloaks, and chanting solemnly as the sun sets between the two centrally placed turbines on the highest peak ... aligning perfectly with the Orion constellation and being mathematically placed exactly as the pyramids ...... oops! I mentioned it. ^-^ Raggy

Is it really so hot there that you have to install fans outside? LOL :)
